还有高中聚会.
发现唯一的一点是,大概只有我是不变的呢.
然后comic版聚的时候发现人都不认识.而且,我都一个月没有看动画了,看来估计和离开也不远了.

We drove to Montreal on the best route in Canada, high way 401. Actually yongyan drove and I was just keeping him awake on the way. We were at 120-160, on the highway.
The first astonishing thing in Montreal is that we saw square traffic lights. The red ones are in squares. I guess it is for color blinds, but not sure.
And on the way to Montreal, yongyan made the most profound remarks. “Once you see the world, there is no way to look backward.” This is most suitable remarks for Montreal, and for the travel. If you don’t move forward, you will be in pain. Seldom any one could suffer that, if you already see what the world outside is like. North Americans are happy, but no one else could live like them.
During the days in Montreal, we didn’t spend much time outside. It was toooo cold. A lot of snows. The major views we took are Habitat 67 and McGill.
Habitat 67 is a set of apartments. They didn’t allow us to get into the apartment. It is astonishing they have elevators. And nice lamps.
And you can see the Montreal city from the apartment.
We also went to the St. Joseph’s Oratory.
It is said the lamp oils there is great cure for leg problems…
They have a very special elevator room inside.
And we took pictures on top of the oratory.
A similar one was taken on the Mont Royal.
There is a organ inside. We attended a hymn, but they didn’t use it too much.
The next day we went to McGill, this is how I feel about McGill…
Well, actually it is not quite McGill looks like. It is just my feeling. McGill is old-fashioned. Like this…
And I noticed an interesting indian style chapel near McGill. A funny one.
At last, I have to say, there are a lot of regrets here. And thanks yongyan for accommodating and transportation.
We spent 1 hour or slightly more in Toronto. Sorry for the dirty photo. I took it in the car. And if you get in the city, you will notice the wind power stations.
We just walked around UToronto. It has a nice campus. Medieval styled.
And some old door.
Castle like student center.
A wall full of Greek. I understand none of them.
And funny carves in the campus.
They must have very good designing professions.
And at last…. I can only thank yongyan for taking me to Toronto.
We (me and yongyan) spent half a day in Hamilton, to get around McMaster. McMaster is not too large. It is a cold weather, we were nearly frozen. Below is the theology department. Well… I cannot get it from the building.
And the tree is interesting, I don’t know why all these tree could be green in –20?
And a chapel in Hamilton, I don’t know the name but looks quite good.
After that we had a great hot pot in the downtown. Thanks to sharon!
Waterloo is my first step into Canada. There is not too much to say about the trip. Because there are too many snows…
I spent a lot of time on talking with Timothy Chan and Ian Munro, so not quite a good time for photo. And I discovered bedbugs in hourglass’ room.
The building of CS in U Waterloo has very strange colors, in green and red.
And I happened to notice the next next IOI will be held in Waterloo.
People live in Waterloo seem to be more stressed than the ones in US. I am not sure how I got the feeling.
Thanks to lordiablo, nicolas, and hourglass. And from then on, I am travelling with yongyan in his car. Before that, he just got one crashed on the way to waterloo.
University of Michigan has a busy campus. They have two campuses, the central one and the north one. Computer science is in the north campus. But the old ones are in the central. UMich has a good medicine school (very large). But the most buildings of the campus are not fancy at all except the law school.
And inside the library of the law school.
It is said that inside the library there is only one book – the federal report.
And this is the statue in front of the museum of UMich.
I also attended a course by Seth Pettie. Well, it is not quite a good lecture…
Thanks to Hangtian Song for accommodating.
Well, not quite like many people say, Champaign is actually quite large. Especially if you get there from Lafayette, you will see that easily. But as it is famous for corn fields, you can even meet one in the winter.
There are somewhere in UIUC is kind of like Tsinghua, like the following. If you can’t get it from the snows, this one from an old roommate of mine.
And the first experimental field in US.
The buildings are not stylish. But some of the tiny parts are interesting.
And, what can I say, it is not quite an interesting place. But I didn’t have time to get into it. Thanks wheat and dreamweaver, and Xide Lin for accommodation, guide, and meals
.
Lafayette is really a “small” town. It is really small. It is said this is the only thriving part of Lafayette near the train station. It is said that in the old time Lafayette is an industrial area, but it is just a small town now. It is really a small town, I cannot figure out what you can do other than sleeping after the sky went dark.
Now, Lafayette is a town for Purdue University. The sign of the university is the following. I don’t know why they choose as the symbol.
But I think this is much better.
The sign of Purdue.
This pavilion is designed by someone in Purdue, I guess.
I guess it is a water tower. But no ones actually knows.
I saw this in the campus. I don’t know much trees that will keep green leaves in the winter.
And Purdue is said to have the most fraternities and sororities in US.
After all, thanks to the tenshi couple for accommodation.
I didn’t take too much photos about Chicago. But it is really a nice city with a lot of good architectures. It is the heaven for designers. Frank Wright has his studio near Chicago, but I don’t have time for that. Most of the time it was snowing, the following photo is the only one that is not in snow.
Chicago has several symbols, the most famous one is the Cloud Gate in the Millennium Park.
And you can take a picture of you under it.
Another two are Picaso and Flamingo.
Guess what’s behind Flamingo? ANSWER: USPS.
The other buildings are also interesting, like this one. It is a part of the government but I am not sure about which part.
The inside. But it is sad that I cannot get into the elevator, because they require badge and security check.
This clock of some company is also famous, but I forgot the actual name of the company.
The transportation system in Chicago is a very unique one. The uplifted train system is metal and heavy industrial. You will be shocked by them if you see the actual ones. It is exactly the same as in the movie Dark Knight. But the reason for them is Chicago government ran out of funding to build a underground subway system…
Behind the rail it was the public library of chicago, the copper sculptures are frightening.
And this is the start point of Route 66, the mother route. Forgive me that I didn’t notice my hand was frozen…
Inside the cultural center of Chicago there said to be the largest tiffany dome.
And even some chinese around it.
At last, as always, I need to show a college, the DePaul.
Trip to Pittsburgh is not easy. The plane was delayed in Atlanta. Don’t ask me why it is delayed, it is so common in US.
They have interesting cable cars for transportation, because Pittsburgh is hilly.
In the downtown they have strange buildings. Like the old one.
And the new one.
Also candy ones.
CMU has very strange building styles. Like the Academy in Heroes Might and Magic. And notice the lane is the lane for “Robot Racing” in CMU.
CMU has four museums. The art and natural history are near CMU. I like Piet Mondrian’s works.
The old Pittsburgh in painting.
And the theme is “Life on Mars”. Welcome, Martians
.
The architectural hall is great, with lots of figures.
And this is how CMU students feel
.
Great miniatures.
University of Pittsburgh has the world’s second highest main building in the world – Cathedral of Learning.
Lots of churches around it.
Inside, good place for self-study.
There are lot of international students’ room inside, too. This one is from China. Well, it quite looks like a traditional Chinese room near new year.
And the last one, from the top of Cathedral of Learning.
Thanks fwj’s accommodating. And Danny’s tour guide
.
